Somaiya Vidyavihar Announces Appointment of Dr. Raghunath Kashinath Shevgaonkar as Provost

Mumbai, 11th May, 2022: Somaiya Vidyavihar is delighted to announce the appointment of Dr. Raghunath Kashinath Shevgaonkar as the Provost. He will be leading higher educational institutions of Somaiya Vidyavihar (SVV) that are affiliated to Mumbai University (MU), the Somaiya Ayurvihar Institutions that are affiliated to Mumbai University of Health Services (MUHS), the vocational training Institutions (VTI) and the Polytechnic department.

Dr. Raghunath Kashinath Shevgaonkar has served in numerous senior leadership roles and has been instrumental in paving paths of the career dimensions of students through his visionary insights. He has a PhD from I.I.T Bombay/ (Indian Institute of Astrophysics/Raman Research Institute, Bangalore) on Maximum Entropy Restoration of Astronomical Images. He is a fellow of: IEEE, Indian National Academy of Engineering, and National Academy of Science, India,  and an accomplished educational leader, able academic administrator and an institution builder. He has served as the Dean and Deputy Director at IIT Bombay, Director of IIT Delhi, Vice Chancellor of Pune University and Bennett University. An innovative and inspiring teacher in electrical engineering through conventional as well as electronic mode, he has been twice awarded the prestigious IEEE awards for teaching and educational leadership, and SN Mitra Memorial award of Indian National Academy of Engineering. He also has comprehensive knowledge of Indian classical music.
